Most skiers get to the point where they find themselves "stuck in the intermediate rut." Many times this is because they took lessons as beginners, advanced rapidly and now that they can ski parallel, they think it's clear sailing from here on.

On the contrary--advancing beyond intermediate level to the real "fun phase" of skiing takes commitment, correct technique and some sweat.

Our goal in this section is simple:
Become more versatile in your parallel skiing to advance rapidly beyond the "intermediate rut."

We achieve this by practicing fun exercises on skis, like these:

  • Hoppers
  • Leapers
  • Balance traverse
  • Outside-only turns
  • Drop, tip and roll
  • Get it to flow
  • Stepping out
  • Stepping in

Most importantly: Practice drills in sequence as a means towards our ultimate goal--to have fun!

Work sequentially through the topics and exercises in this goal:

1. Review this goal
2. Hoppers
3. Leapers
4. Balance traverse
5. Outside-only turns
6. Stomp turns
7. Drop, tip and roll
8. Get it to flow
9. Stepping out
10. Stepping in
11. Boot chasing
12. Chasing the leader
13. Into the gates

Remember our overall goal--to have fun!
