Summary:  Skiing steep terrain requires good, solid technique...plus a bit of guts.

Why not?


Our goal in this section is to master the basics of skiing steep terrain. It requires special techniques that are achievable by any advanced skier. Study and practice the exercises and you'll soon experience the thrill of skiing the steeps.

Skiing the steeps effectively require:

  • Strong skiing stance.
  • Good short radius turns.
  • Good rebound to enable rapid turn initiation.
  • Deliberate pole swing down the hill.

Remember: Practice exercises in sequence as a means towards our ultimate goal--to have fun!
