As you ski, be more active with the pole swing--as
you swing, reach up and forward as if to milk an elephant.
- The hand and arm, after swinging, should
remain pointing down the hill. Be sure not to let the hand drop as if its
job is finished after the swing.
- The action of one pole begins just as the
other has finished.
How quickly the hand is thrust forward depends on
the radius of the turn. The thrust is just as powerful in a long radius turn as
in a shorter turn, but it's done in slower motion to mirror what the skis are
doing.
Try to maintain a flowing rhythm and keep the
hands up, up, up.
