Begin by sidestepping down the
hill. Make larger and larger steps down the hill.
- Notice that the further that you step down the hill,
the more you will be stepping off of the big toe edge of the uphill ski.
Now, get more active and jump off the uphill ski and land
on the inside edge of the downhill ski. As you land, roll the ankle and knee of
your downhill leg into the hill.
- Notice that when you land and roll your edge into the
hill, you feel a rebound.
Now with your upper body facing down the hill, use the pop
from the stored energy of the decambered ski, to direct your skis into the flow
line. Complete a turn.
When you cross the flow line, again jump off the uphill
ski and land on the edge of the other, absorb some of the rebound energy and
then release the remainder of the stored energy in the ski and direct it back
down the flow line.
Tips:
- Use the rebound to direct the skis to the flow line by
extending your legs and extension and a turning your feet.
- Keep your chest over your feet and keep it facing down
the flow line.
- Keep working with an active push-off of the uphill ski
to hop you down the flow line.
