- Doing it along a ridge that runs along the flow line
makes this a lot easier.
Start with your skis pointed straight down the flow line.
Step one ski into a wedge relationship with the other ski
and immediately bring the other to match.
Next, step the one that you have just matched into a
wedge. Quickly match it with the other.
Add the pole touch to signal the step.
Do this a number of times slowly with a one-two rhythm.
Now, a little air time
Point your skis straight down the flow line again, but
instead of just stepping one ski into a wedge, hop it into a wedge. The ski you
pushed off from, immediately chases after it.
Do it in the other direction and then progressively start
"linking" these hops, one after the other--as you ski straight down
the flow line.
Touch your pole upon landing, and hop into the new
"turn."
Tips:
- Keep the tips of the skis in the flow line and hop from
one side of it to the other.
- Imagine a trampoline popping you back up as you land.
- Always swing the pole down the flow line.
- Aim for a continuous, fluid motion.
- Practice converging steps with finesse, and they can be
a great asset.
