Starting with the skis pointed diagonally
across the flow line, step your uphill ski into a wedge. Immediately bring the
other ski to match, as you steer and finish the turn.
- Doing it along a ridge that runs along the flow line
makes this a lot easier.
Keep turning and as you cross the flow line, again step
the uphill ski into a wedge, match the inside ski and steer around the turn.
Add the pole touch to signal the step.
Do this slowly a number of consecutive times with a
one-two rhythm.
Air time
Instead of just stepping the uphill ski into a wedge, hop
off the inside edge of the downhill ski. The downhill ski immediately chases
after the uphill ski
Link turns in this way--hopping off the downhill ski onto
a wedged uphill ski, followed by a match and a steering around the turn.
Tips:
- Imagine a trampoline popping you up as you land.
- Always swing the pole down the flow line.
- Aim for a continuous, fluid motion.
- Keep your upper body facing down the hill.
