Try this exercise to train the muscles of the inside leg and foot to turn the ski without using any gross upper body movement to help redirect the ski. Begin in a diagonal traverse with all joints flexed comfortably and your upper body facing slightly down the hill. Lift the uphill/outside ski completely off the snow. Flex slightly the leg you are standing on and then extend it, projecting your upper body slightly down the hill. Carefully maintain balance and enter the turn utilizing only the foot and leg you are standing on--do a loong turn! Stay on that inside ski to shape the turn and then, when you cross the flow line, switch to the other leg.
