Why not?

  • This is a bit complicated, but well worth practicing. Do it correctly and it will do wonders for your skiing.

Try this exercise first on flat snow, then start slowly in a traverse.

Lift the uphill ski off of the snow and point it into a wedged relationship to the other ski.

As you wedge the ski, twist your upper body to face that lifted ski. When the ski is completely wedged and the body is twisted to face it, set the ski down on its edge and ride it around in a turn.

At the point of transition from one turn to the next when you cross the flow line, twist your upper body to face the uphill wedging ski. Again, when completely countered, set the ski down on its edge and feel a powerful slice through the turn.

  • Once you've licked it, tone down the twisting and wedging gradually, until you make normal turns.

Print this out for future reference and remember to have fun!
